Dr Jong’s research interests are in the computational modelling of interactions between Antarctic ice sheets, the ocean and
other geophysical processes.
She obtained her PhD in physics in 2011 from University of Melbourne before working with the Scientific Databases and Visualisation Group at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, Germany developing scientific software for data storage, tracking and retrieval for
systems biology researchers.
Dr Jong returned to Australia to join the Scientific Computing team at the Australian Synchrotron, designing and developing software for data collection, processing and analysis for a number of beamlines.
Dr Jong is investigating grounding line dynamics and the influence of the ocean on Antarctic ice sheets using coupled computational ice sheet and ocean model.
