ACE Researchers Named Among IPCC Authors
Six ACE CRC researchers are among those selected to contribute to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The IPCC is the world’s leading body for assessing science related to climate change. The United Nations body has issued five similar reports in the past, which have formed the basis for the global strategy to address climate change.
The ACE CRC scientists chosen as authors for AR6 are:

Working Groups I & II, Coordinating Lead Author, Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate
Professor Philip Boyd (IMAS/ACE CRC)
Working Group II, Lead Author Chapter 3 – Oceans
Dr Andrew Constable (AAD/ACE CRC)
Working Group II, Lead Author, Chapter 17 – Decision-making options for managing risk
Dr Catia Domingues (IMAS/ACE CRC)
Working Group I, Lead Author Chapter 2 – Changing state of the climate system
Dr Rebecca Harris (University of Tasmania/ACE CRC)
Working group II, Lead Author Chapter 2 – Terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their services
Dr Jessica Melbourne-Thomas (AAD/ACE CRC)
Working Group II, Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate, Lead Author, Chapter 3– Polar Oceans
According to the IPCC, the AR6 will “inform policymakers, international climate negotiators and other stakeholders about the latest knowledge on all aspects of climate change”.
It is expected to be completed in 2021 and published in 2022.
