The Board of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC), today announced that Professor Tony Worby has advised his intention to resign as CEO, effective from 18th August this year.

Professor Worby will stand down from the ACE CRC to take up the role of Director of CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere.

The Chair of the ACE CRC Board, Dr Katherine Woodthorpe, today thanked Professor Worby for his contribution to the organisation.

“Tony has contributed to the CRC in a number of capacities since we were established in 1991,” Dr Woodthorpe said.

“In his three years as CEO, Tony has done an outstanding job of continuing to foster our strong collaborative research environment and build the organisation’s profile.”

“Tony leaves the ACE CRC partnership in excellent shape, having led a truly outstanding team that continues to deliver scientific outcomes of international significance and importance to Australia’s future.”

“We are naturally sad to see Tony go, but he leaves us to take on a very important national science leadership role, as the Director of CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere.”

“We wish him the very best in this endeavour, and we look forward to his continued support of the ACE CRC in his new role.”

“The Board has commenced the process of finding a replacement CEO and we do not anticipate any disruptions to our scheduled field programs or research activities.”

Professor Worby has been CEO of the ACE CRC since July 2014.
