Natural iron fertilisation of oceans around Australia – linking terrestrial aerosols to marine biogeochemistry
Aerosol (dust, biomass burning, anthropogenic emissions) is a great source of new micronutrients like iron (Fe) to the marine environment. Our project studies the atmospheric transport of aerosol emitted from Australia and their subsequent deposition to both coastal seawater and to the Southern Ocean. Is aerosol deposition in this region significant enough to stimulate the marine primary productivity?
